Nathan Green at Sitka Electrification Expo

ACEP’s Nathan Green was among the presenters for the second annual Sitka Electrification Expo in February. Organized by Transition Sitka, this event provided the Sitka community with access to local experts on renewable energy and energy efficient technologies.
The presentations covered a wide range of energy topics.
- Nathan Green discussed solar photovoltaics and energy storage;
- Maureen O’Hanlon from Alaska Heat Smart spoke about home heating assessments;
- Keith Greinier from Forrester-Greinier Mechanical discussed options for home retrofits for hydronic or radiant heating with heat pumps;
- Keith Koruna, Matt Mielke and Jesse Young spoke about their experiences with the Plumbers and Pipefitters and Electrical worker trade unions as well as opportunities for apprenticeships in the unions;
- Robin Gilcrest of Construction Technology at the University of Alaska Southeast, informed listeners about home weatherization projects people can do on their own to increase energy efficiency; and
- Stephen Rhoads of Seafood Producers Cooperatives discussed grant funding opportunities for energy efficiency upgrades for businesses.
Additionally, the event offered booths for attendees to learn more about heat pump and energy efficiency installation and financing.
