Orientation Leaders and Student Ambassadors

During orientation you'll meet a team of specially trained students: orientation leaders (OLs) and student ambasadors (SAs). OLs and SAs are experienced, knowledgeable UAF student leaders who will help guide you in your transition to UAF. OLs and SAs are selected from a wide range of academic interests and are a representation of the rich and diverse experiences of UAF students. You and about 20 other first-year students will be in a group led by a pair of these student leaders who will get to know you and teach you how to be successful both inside and outside of the classroom.

Make a difference: join the orientation team!

Current UAF students are invited to apply to join the new student orientation team.

Orientation leaders volunteer help new Nanooks through their transition to their first semester at UAF. Orientation leaders:

  • Move into campus housing early at no cost
  • Receive comprehensive training to become UAF experts
  • Earn $250 in BearBucks
  • Mentor first-year students
  • Make lasting friendships

The orientation leader position requires a 2.5 GPA, at least one semester completed at UAF and a clear judicial record.

Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled. Apply early for first consideration. Email uaf-orientation@alaska.edu with questions.
