A rehearsal on a date prior to your event can be arranged. Let a staff member know when we first reply to your form submission and we can schedule this in. There is a fee of $50 for an hour.

Your venue space should remain in the same condition as it was prior to your event. The use of nails, thumbtacks, etc. may not be used in any of the structures, benches, tables, fences or trees. You may throw flower petals, but they must be raked up afterward. Sorry, no rice allowed.

You may bring in your own chairs, tables, etc. Benches in the Pavilion are movable but must be moved back to their original homes after your event.

Parking at the Gardens is extremely limited.  If you anticipate a lot of attendees, we recommend you direct your guests to park at the lower Nenana Parking Lot and provide shuttle service, as parking alongside the road is a safety hazard.

FOOD/CATERING

If you plan to have food and beverage at your event, you must complete a Food and Beverage Application, which must be submitted at least 14 days before the event.

The form can be found here.

ALCOHOL

Beer and wine may be served by a licensed caterer, but you must follow all UAF policies and State laws. We will guide you through the process if you choose to have alcohol at your event.

The form can be found here.

The entire garden is available for you to enjoy during your event, however, only the area you have rented will be marked as a “Private Event” the rest of the garden will remain open to the public and have regular traffic during business hours. Keep in mind that the GBG is a museum of living plants, so please respect all of the plants. Climbing trees, picking flowers, fruits, vegetables, or other vegetation is not allowed.

For the safety of all children and for the health of the garden, please monitor children at all times. The GBG is a wonderful place to teach children about plants. It is the responsibility of the children’s chaperones to teach them how to enjoy the garden in a respectful way and the importance of following the policies of the garden.

There are two Sani-cans located in the garden. One is located in the parking lot just east of the little white building. The other one is located in the Babula Children’s Garden just north of the main Babula Garden entrance.

Smoking is not allowed in the garden or anywhere on the campus of the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). UAF is a tobacco-free campus. It is allowable to smoke inside of your personal vehicle.

While we love pets, they are not allowed in the Georgeson Botanical Garden with the exception of registered and properly identified service animals.

All of our available spaces have access to electricity. We encourage you to test any electrical equipment on site prior to your event to ensure that everything runs smoothly on the day of your event.
