Winter walks are here! This year we encourage visitors to come stroll through the gardens all winter long. We will be clearing paths so visitors can enjoy the calm of winter's beauty. Please stay on the trails and keep an eye out for wildlife.

The garden is maintained and in full bloom Memorial Day through Labor Day. Although we are an active research facility, we host a number of events to bring visitors to the garden.

Regular events include:

Music In the Garden: A weekly summer event for families featuring local bands and great community. This event is hosted by UAF Summer Sessions.

Wine and Peonies: An annual fundraising event organized by the Georgeson Botanical Garden Friends. Join the Friends in the garden for an evening of wine, flowers and fundraising!

Currant Fest

Each fall, we celebrate all things currant at the Currant Festival. Currants are an underdog in the Alaska berry community, often outshone by prolific and tasty Alaska blueberries, salmonberries, raspberries and cranberries. Currants, from translucent red to trailing black varieties, are found across the state. They make an easy and nutritious addition to home gardens or a specialty crop on farms.

Music in the Garden

Every summer, Fairbanks locals flock to the Georgeson Botanical Garden each Thursday evening for outdoor fun and music. This event is supported by UAF Summer Sessions.

Peonies
Wine and Peonies

Each summer, the Georgeson Botanical Garden Friends invite you to an evening of wine and flowers. Come celebrate the beauty of Alaskan peonies in the garden and take home a lovely bouquet. Enjoy wine, hors d’oeuvres, friends, music, and tours of the garden in bloom. All proceeds support the Garden.
