Student commencement speaker

Each spring, the ASUAF student commencement speaker committee selects a graduating student to give an address during UAF's spring commencement ceremony. The committee--made up of three students, one ASUAF Senator, one communications faculty member, one representative from the Student Leadership and Involvement office, ASUAF advisor and one representative from the commencement planning committee--solicits nominations from any UAF community member and accepts applications from any fall, spring or summer graduate at any degree level (associate, bachelor's, master's or doctoral) and any UAF campus.

Nominations may be made by any member of the UAF community and must be received by February 16, 2024.

The application for student commencement speaker is now open. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024.

Candidates for student commencement speaker must be in good conduct and academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher).

A conduct check will be conducted through the Office of Rights, Compliance and Accountability to ensure the student speaker is a positive representative of UAF. Examples of unacceptable conduct may include having been found responsible for academic misconduct, bullying, harassment or discrimination.

Students from any UAF campus are encouraged to apply.

Students at all degree levels (associate, bachelor's, master's or doctoral) are encouraged to apply.

The student commencement speaker must be a fall 2023, spring 2024 or summer 2024 graduate.
