Kuskokwim Campus in Bethel, Alaska, part of the College of Indigenous Studies of the
University of Alaska Fairbanks, is the only CIS campus that has a residence life facility.
This dormitory would not have become a reality without the untiring efforts of Senator John Sackett, for whom the dorm is named.
At 21 in 1966, Sackett became the youngest person ever elected to the Alaska Legislature.
He spent 18 of the next 20 years representing rural Alaska. UAF presented Sackett
with an honorary doctorate in 2013.
