Certificate; A.A.S. Degree
Minimum Requirements for Certificate: 30 credits; for Degree: 60 credits
The Yup'ik language proficiency program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to pursue structured study of Yup'ik in order to develop intermediate-level speaking and listening skills, as well as basic reading and writing abilities in the language. The certificate may serve as a step on the way to a two-year or four-year degree.
- Complete the general university requirements.
- Complete the certificate requirements. (As part of the certificate requirements, the communication, computation and human relations content is embedded in some of the major required courses for this program.)
- Complete the following:
- ESK F208—Yup'ik Composition—3 credits
ESK F130—Beginning Yup'ik Grammar—3 credits
ESK F240—Introduction to Reading Yup'ik—3 credits - Complete one of the following sequences:
ESK F121—Elementary Central Yup'ik Apprenticeship I—4 credits
ESK F122—Elementary Central Yup'ik Apprenticeship II—4 credits
ESK F123—Elementary Central Yup'ik Apprenticeship III—4 credits
or
ESK F103—Conversational Central Yup'ik (3)—3 credits
