Make an impact with your research

The Alaska Center for Innovation, Commercialization, and Entrepreneurship seeks innovative academics interested in making a direct impact with their research ventures and finding solutions to today's challenges while building a stronger, more resilient Alaska. The linked Center ICE request for proposals has recently opened for submissions, and all University of Alaska faculty, staff and students are eligible. A webinar with more details on the proposal opportunity was held on Oct. 4. The Center ICE YouTube channel is hosting the recorded webinar. Proposals are due by Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, at 8 a.m. Alaska Time.


UAF flu vaccine clinics

The UAF Student Health and Counseling Center will be hosting flu vaccine clinics for students, faculty and staff (to include partners of faculty and staff). The first clinics will be held at the Akasofu Building on Oct. 19 and the Butrovich Building on Oct. 24, both events are from noon-2 p.m. Look for announcements of additional vaccine clinics around campus in the near future, and join us in helping keep Nanook Nation healthy!

The Institute of Arctic Biology's Life Sciences Seminars continue through a combined format, in-person and via Zoom. Mat(thew) Wooller, Ph.D., a UAF professor jointly appointed between the CFOS and the INE, and the director of the Alaska Stable Isotope Facility, will present "Adopt a Mammoth and Win!" A raffle ticket will be given to every attendee who is present in person at this seminar - with one lucky person being selected to win the adoption of their very own mammoth (fossil). Deadline approaching to apply for EPSCoR research seed grants

The deadline to UA faculty and students to apply for Alaska NSF EPSCoR Research Seed Grants is 5 p.m. Alaska time this Friday, Oct. 14. Faculty grants of up to $20,000 each will be awarded to University of Alaska scientists to carry out research that supports project goals, and student grants of up to $4,000 each will be awarded for similar proposals from students.


UA Faculty Alliance announce calls for proposals for the AY23 Faculty Initiative Fund

UA Faculty Alliance announce calls for proposals for the AY23 Faculty Initiative Fund. Proposals are due by Nov. 7, 2022. A $300,000 financial commitment was made by the University of Alaska for FY23 to promote inter-university collaboration in program development, scholarly endeavors and student engagement with the goal of reducing cost and promoting internship opportunities for students.
