All staff, students and faculty across the University of Alaska system are invited
to a virtual Town Hall with UA President Pat Pitney on Tuesday, Nov. 8, from 1-2 p.m. via Zoom or by watching the livestream on the UA President’s communications page. Those viewing the livestream will not be able to ask live questions, but they can
be submitted in advance through this Google Form.
The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host an emergency response exercise on Wednesday,
Nov. 9, in the Akasofu Building, which is located on the west ridge of the Troth Yeddha'
campus in Fairbanks. The exercise is scheduled to start around noon and will allow police and fire departments
to practice responding to a violent intruder situation. Multiple agencies will participate
in the exercise. Information before and during the exercise will be available on the UAF on Alert website.
Though our initial deadline for book adoptions has passed (Oct. 28), we are still
accepting book adoptions so materials are available for students in time to prepare
for spring classes! If you have any questions about the book adoption process, please don't hesitate to
contact Karissa Noragon, the UAF Bookstore manager, or call the store at 907-474-6858.
Pop-Con is a celebration of all things pop culture - gaming, entertainment, books,
comics, and more! From Nov. 10-12, Pop-Con will take over the Wood Center for three
days of tournaments, vendors, cosplay, workshops, and activities. You don't want to
miss out!

scientists from all biomedical fields through its Scientist of the Month articles.
BLaST Scholar and UAF biology undergraduate student Laura Ekada was selected as the
November 2022 BLaST Scientist of the Month.

UA Faculty Alliance announces an extension to the call for proposals for the AY23
Faculty Initiative Fund. All proposals in response to this RFP are due to the Office of Academics, Students
and Research no later than 5 p.m. Alaska time Nov. 14, 2022. The review period will end Dec. 12, 2022, with awards announced on Dec. 19, 2022.
