Researchers find unexpectedly large methane source in overlooked landscape

A new study from UAF researchers reported that upland landscapes were releasing some of the highest methane emissions yet documented among northern terrestrial ecosystems. The research was sparked when a potent greenhouse gas began ballooning under lawns in Fairbanks. Learn more on how the findings challenge climate models.


UA FY26 Federal Appropriations call for requests now open

The University of Alaska System  FY26 Federal Appropriations requests form is now open. The UA System will be accepting requests through Sept. 30, 2024. Student Learning Outcomes & Academic Program Review training Aug 13-14

A two-day Student Learning Outcome Assessment training is scheduled for Aug. 13-14 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the BP Design Theater. This comprehensive training will provide faculty with valuable insights and practical tools for enhancing student learning and preparing for academic program review. Faculty, especially those involved in academic program review for the upcoming academic year, are highly encouraged to attend this training. Food and refreshments will be provided both days.
