For Indigenous Peoples' Day, NDAC is hosting a workshop on how to make beaded sun
catchers with Laura Ekada on Oct. 10 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gathering Room of the Brooks
Building. All the materials will be provided. The first 15 people to fill out this form can attend the workshop. If you are unable to make it, please let us know so that another person can take your place.
Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training will be offered Tuesday, Nov. 1, from
2-5 p.m. via Zoom by the Office of Research Integrity. It is an NIH requirement that
all BLaST GMRAs, Scholars, UREs and other funded projects participate in RCR training.
This is the only formal RCR training at UAF this semester, and is a two-part training where both parts are required to earn your RCR certificate.
A series of workshops is available both in-person and online for students to develop
and practice their presentation and story-telling skills for this year's competition.

Want to learn more about Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activity (URSA) and
getting connected to research and creative projects on campus? Join the URSA office Oct. 12 from 1-2 p.m. via Zoom for the next event in URSA's Fall 2022 Seminar Series! This event is geared toward new students or new-to-URSA students. We will go over
URSA application processes, opportunities to get involved at UAF, and UAF's Research
and Creative Activity Day (April 2023).

and 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7 to pick up activity worksheets and planners to get inspired
to start a new hobby (or continue one you already have!) to aid in passing the time,
having fun, and staying motivated when the days become darker and the temps become
colder.
Join Wendy Martelle (UAF assistant professor of Applied Linguistics & ESL) and a community
that will explore the many benefits of a mindfulness practice and how to apply the
mindfulness journey in everyday life.
Nanook Sports
Nanook Recreation is pleased to announce that they will be offering cross country
skiing lessons this coming winter for students, staff, and faculty! Lessons will begin once the snow falls and the trails are groomed. Keep an eye on

KUAC is returning to its pre-pandemic Fall Fundraiser, with phone bank volunteers.
The event is set for Oct. 15-23, and departments or clubs are welcome to sign up for
six-person, two-hour shifts.
