UAF CTC Registration Bash set for Aug. 15

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Community and Technical College (CTC) is hosting its Registration Bash on Thursday, Aug. 15 from 4–6 p.m.  at the CTC Downtown Center. This event is an opportunity to learn more about UAF CTC programs through equipment demonstrations and activities while enjoying free food. It is also a one-stop shop for current and prospective students to sign up for fall semester classes. Learn more.

Apply: URSA Climate Change Project funding by Sept. 8

This grant opportunity of up to $5,000 is open to all undergraduate students (from any discipline and any UAF-affiliated campus) who are interested in conducting scholarly work on various aspects of climate change, including but not limited to climate science, climate policy, visual or written communication of climate issues, and climate adaptation and mitigation strategies. UAF researchers aim for quality, quantity in small grains project

Aug. 6 was harvest day for the small grains trials project on the Fairbanks Experiment Farm at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The combine harvester collected seeds from almost 80 varieties of barley, wheat and canola grown to find which varieties thrive in Fairbanks' short summer. Learn more on the project.


Zoom AI Companion features launch on Aug. 16; opt-in to use

The University of Alaska is excited to announce the upcoming launch of Zoom AI Companion's new features, set to go live on Aug. 16. This innovative tool is designed to further enhance meeting productivity and efficiency across the university. CEL Award funding open through Sept. 8

Degree-seeking UAF undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, postdoctoral researchers and staff from all disciplines and UAF campuses are encouraged to apply for awards up to $5,000 to engage with a community partner to explore a community need or problem through research or scholarly activity. Graduate teaching assistant orientation 

Join the Center for Teaching and Learning and the Graduate School for a two-part graduate teaching assistant orientation. The sessions will be held on Aug. 20 and Sept. 20, both in-person and via Zoom. Lunch will be provided at both sessions. Learn more and preregister.

Exhibit, video series to explain Aleutian Island storm history

A 2022 science cruise to the Aleutian Islands to learn about ancient storms and tsunamis has generated a traveling museum exhibit and video series that highlight the research and how scientists and Indigenous Alaskans worked together. Learn more and get the video series link.
