David Henry

Associate Professor of Japanese

David Henry has a Ph.D. in Japanese Literature from the University of Michigan, and a BA in History from Earlham College. Hi research is centered on issues related to modern Japanese literature, especially the materiality of texts, which is to say how the material form of a work affects its meaning. The current historical moment, as we switch to reading more on screens Ereaders, iPads, Kindles, even cellphones, gives us a great vantage point from which to consider how literature in Japan was formed through serialized newspaper fiction and the newly affordable books during the 1910's and 1920's.
