Introduction - Author's Notes
July 27, 2012
Because the tale of the Blind Man and the Loon is still very much in living tradition across the Arctic and Subarctic, this web page is designed to keep readers up to date as the story continues to evolve in various media, in printed variants, and in the visual arts. As new variants emerge, I will post web links to them and add commentaries.
The accompanying audio and video recordings are presented here to highlight performances of the folktale The Blind Man and the Loon by Alaska Native storytellers. Unedited, they are enacted texts, told in a traditional way through Native American languages and in English.
