UAF staff, faculty recognized with Dennis Demmert award

Rural Student Services recognized five UAF staff and faculty members with the Dennis Demmert award.

Rural Student Services recognized outstanding staff and faculty members at the University of Alaska Fairbanks with the Dennis Demmert award on April 21, 2022.

During the 1994 Native Summit at UAF, Dennis Demmert recommended something be done to recognize individuals whose actions have proven their support. The name was changed from the RSS Appreciation and Recognition Award to the Dennis Demmert Appreciation and Recognition Award in honor of the many years of service Dennis gave for the betterment of the Alaska Native community.

This is the 27th year students were asked to nominate a staff or faculty member who has made a substantial positive impact on their academic efforts.

This year’s award recipients:

  • Cathy Brooks (Associate Professor, DANSRD)
  • Donald Crocker (Assistant Director, Student Support Services TRIO)
  • Knut Kielland (Professor, Biology and Wildlife Department)
  • Corbin Sandgren (Intake Specialist and Student Conduct Administrator, CSRR)
  • TiaAnna Puya Marie Tidwell (Department Co-chair and Assistant Professor, DANSRD)
