Jodie Anderson appointed as director of IANRE

I have appointed Jodie Anderson to serve as the director of the Institute of Agriculture, Natural Resource and Extension. Jodie Anderson will begin her new position starting Jan. 29.

Anderson is a soil scientist whose personal life has shaped her passion for the mission of a land grant university. She is the great-niece and granddaughter of two Michigan State University Cooperative Extension Service professionals.

Anderson explained to me, “I love what I do and give 100 percent to my job. I plan to follow the ‘engaged university’ model where IANRE will be a unit that is responsive, accessible, integrated, academically neutral, respects our partners and promotes resource partnerships.”

Anderson has demonstrated strong leadership as an interim associate director and I look forward to working with her as she takes on the reins as the new IANRE director. She brings with her great passion, and creative ideas for growth that align with the values and mission of UAF and IANRE.

In addition to promoting research and extension activities, Anderson said she also wishes to continue growing personal connections through service and the famous barbecues known for bringing her team and stakeholders together.

Vice Provost position to open soon

As Vice Provost Alex Fitts prepares for retirement after over 20 years of service to UAF, the Office of the Provost will open recruitment for the Vice Provost, Dean of General Studies and Accreditation Liaison Officer position this spring semester.
