Alaska INBRE has announced that Dr. Jay C. Butler will serve on its External Advisory Committee.

Butler held a position on the EAC previously from 2005 to 2012. He is currently the deputy director for infectious disease at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. During his earlier tenure with INBRE he was the senior director for science with the Division of Community Health Services at the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, and director of the Arctic Investigations Program for the CDC in Anchorage. Butler’s familiarity with Alaska, the Arctic, and its people will provide strategic direction for continued research and investigation relevant to Alaska.

“Alaska INBRE is honored to have Dr. Jay Butler rejoin our External Advisory Committee as our fifth member, helping us promote the growth of biomedical research in Alaska,” said INBRE Program Director Brian Barnes. “Our network will greatly benefit from his intimate knowledge of the needs and challenges for enhancing individual, family, and community health in Alaska and his national and international experience.”
