Anne Duffy retrospective and endowment
Larry Duffy recently created the Anne Duffy Painting and Sculpture Endowed Scholarship
at UAF in loving memory of his daughter, Annie Duffy. Annie was a 1996 UAF alumna
and later taught painting and sculpture within the university art department.
Annie Duffy explored issues of identity, memory, sense of place, and culture through
her artwork. Much of that work specifically referenced the bright, long evenings under
the post-summer-solstice midnight sun or the long, deep-blue aurora-filled nights
that are unique to Alaska.
This endowment will provide a lasting legacy in memory of Annie and her work, while
also supporting students majoring in painting or sculpture at UAF. Endowments last
in perpetuity. If you are interested in making a gift to the spendable portion of
the fund (No. 66208), so that students can receive an immediate impact, you can make a donation here.
For more information about the endowment contact Megan Bean at 907-322-2008.
There will also be a retrospective on Annie Duffy’s work in March, opening at Well Street Art Company.
Well Street Art Company is set to open the Annie Duffy Retrospective art exhibition on Friday, March 4, from 5-8 p.m. A curated collection of her work over the last 30 years will be on display for the month of March.
The exhibition will also include an artist talk later in the month. Celebrate Annie's
work and accomplishments at Well Street Art Company on Wednesday, March 23 at 6 p.m.
for a retrospective artist talk of her career.
If you have any questions about the Annie Duffy Retrospective exhibition and artist
talk please contact David Mollet at dlmollett@alaska.edu.
