GI Seminar, Friday, Sept. 27, Elvey Auditorium
Reception at 1 p.m; Chancellor Lind’s talk will start at 1:30 p.m.

Faculty success in securing research dollars has amounted to an increase in funding for research at the University of Alaska Fairbanks from $56 million in FY97 to more than $100 million this fiscal year. Chancellor Marshall Lind will address the challenges facing the institution in order to make room for new research faculty, graduate students and accompanying laboratories and work space. Dr. Lind will highlight the important link between research activities and academics at UAF to provide education and training for the next generation of scientists, engineers and researchers, as well as discuss academic program initiatives building on UAF’s strengths and tapping faculty research expertise.
