National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week

UAF students will join their peers on more than 3000 other campuses across the country in promoting personal responsibility on celebrating National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week Oct. 20-26, 2002.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in several events designed to reinforce responsible attitudes toward drinking and respect for current state laws and school policies. Activities include:

Oct. 20-26, 2002
The Wall: How has alcohol affected your life?
Students are encouraged to anonymously share the ways in which alcohol has played a part in their life. The Wall will be set up in the lower level of Wood Center.

Oct. 23, 2002, 4-5 p.m.
New Directions Group
A weekly support group for students trying to abstain from using alcohol and/or other drugs. Meetings will take place at UAF’s Center for Health and Counseling and are open to all students.

Oct. 23, 2002, 7 - 9 p.m.
Good to the Last Drop?
A fellow student talks about coming to terms with his alcohol use. The event will take place at the Hec Rec Center. Free Root Beer floats.

Oct. 25, 2002, 10 p.m. - 2 a.m.
Up All Nighter at the SRC
From aerobics to the courts; all is open and available.

Oct. 21 -25, 2002
Are you at Risk?
Free alcohol assessments for students who have experienced alcohol related problems. Contact the Center for Health and Counseling at (907) 474-7043 or e-mail: fyheaco@uaf.edu for an evaluation.

Nationally NCAAW is in its second decade and began with 25 schools. The program now involves more than 3000 campuses. and helps college administrators launch and/or strengthen year round prevention efforts.
