United Way Chili Cook-off Winners Announced

First place went to Char Chaffin, CSEM dean’s office for her Moose Kick’n Chili, second place to Sarah Fuhrmann and Mary Matthews from Student Support Services for their Butternut Blast-off and third place went to Elwin Lawler, Dining Services for his Stampede Caribou.

UAF contestants presented their favorite chili last Friday to a panel of local judges, who evaluated the chili on texture, aroma, spiciness, uniqueness and theme or presentation. For a $2 donation staff, faculty and students sampled chili and cast their vote for the People’s Choice award.

Carolyn Sheehy, with the Office of University Relations, received the People’s Choice award with her Firehouse Chili.

Nearly $400 was raised during the two hour event. All proceeds go to the United Way of the Tanana Valley.
