WHAT: Snooping, Secrecy, and Suspicions: Privacy and Information after 9/11. Speech examining the extent of the assault on civil liberties in America today including the continuing restriction of government information and how new laws affect how/what the government can find out about you.

WHO: June Pinell-Stephens is the Collection Services Manager at the Fairbanks North Star Borough Public Library, a position she has held for 15 ears. She is the past president of the Alaska Library Association, the Pacific Northwest Library Association, and the Freedom to Read Foundation, the legal defense arm of the American Library Association. She just finished her fourth term as president of the Alaska Civil Liberties Union and remains on the board of directors. She holds degrees from Pomona College and the University of Washington.

WHERE: University of Alaska Fairbanks Natural Sciences Building, room 201.
