Calling it "a big step toward getting where we want to be," UAF Athletics Director Cory Schwartz, announced today that the UAF athletic department has launched a new website in conjunction with WebWeavers of Fairbanks, www.gonanooks.com.
"We very much appreciate the work WebWeavers has done to help us take a big step toward where we want to be in disseminating information about the student-athletes at this university," said Schwartz. "Once again, WebWeavers shows a distinctive level of community involvement and its support of UAF and Nanook athletics will be felt for some time to come."
"WebWeavers was thrilled to work with UAF athletics on the redesign of its website! " said Ginger Stock, owner/busines manager for WebWeavers. "As a local company, we really enjoy working on projects that will not only make our university look good to others, but will also encourage increased community support for those programs. If we’ve created a site that everyone in the community can take pride in, then I think we’ve done our job."
The new UAF athletic website has a sleek, professional look with ease of navigation that simplifies the task for anyone surfing the web. Nanook fans can find the latest information on any of the UAF teams as well as checking out the biographical information on each of the student-athletes. The site also features direct links to the annual BP Top of the World Classic, one of the nation’s premiere basketball tournaments, and the Mt. McKinley Bank North Star Invitational, hosted by the UAF women’s basketball team.
"The rifle team has gotten a lot of positive feedback from its existing website. It is a great recruiting tool, and an excellent way to tell the team’s story. I am very pleased to see the athletic department launch this new site," said Glenn Dubis, coach of UAF’s six-time NCAA national championship rifle team. " I expect the gonanooks.com site will unify all the athletic department websites, allowing each team to work together."
"Part of running your program at the highest level possible is getting information out on your team, whether it’s to recruits, fans or parents," said Lynne Andrew, UAF head women’s basketball coach. "Our new website is informative and easy to follow. It’s going to be a big help to our program."
