KUAC/Alaska One TV will broadcast a new locally produced series, Inside Alaska. Premiering Friday, Nov. 7, 2003 at 8 p.m., Alaskans can tune in to the first of an eight-part series that tells the stories of the issues affecting the people living in the far north.

Partially funded by a grant from the US Department of Agriculture to address matters that affect individuals in rural areas, Inside Alaska explores the uniqueness of Alaskan life through such diverse topics as the state of the nonprofit sector in Alaska, our distinctive architecture, the state of the State, the economic impact of the military on regional communities, the Tanana Forest and more.

"We are pleased to bring this new program to Alaskans," said Greg Petrowich, general manager and CEO of KUAC and president of Alaska One. "There are so many unique stories to tell, and it’s the mission of public television to tell them."

Robert Hannon, KUAC/Alaska One public affairs director, returns as host of the new series. Hannon taps experts and lay-people alike during these 1ò2-hour programs for thought-provoking discussion about the issues, challenges and achievements that are uniquely Alaskan. "We hope viewers will value this new service and even share their ideas for topics," says Hannon.

Bringing together the talents of the Alaska One Network (including KTOO-Juneau and KYUK-Bethel), KUAC anticipates the opportunity to extend the program into a regular series. "Alaska public television stations have a common mission to provide and convey in depth coverage of the issues affecting Alaskans. By joining forces, we can serve all Alaskans better," says Petrowich.

Serving Interior Alaska, KUAC 89.9 FM/Alaska One TV 9, public radio and public television, is a multiple-media organization with a mission to provide quality noncommercial programming and services that enlighten, inspire, educate and entertain. KUAC is licensed to the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
