The Wood Center Ballroom will pulse to the beat of the UAF Swing Cats swing band, Saturday, Dec. 6. The night will kick off with a hot Latin Salsa dance lesson by Angel and Ivette Ramos, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The eight-piece band will take over after the lesson, performing a jumping selection of tunes sure to draw even the most timid onto the dance floor. The core of the group is composed of Alaska’s most renowned blues band, the Mighty Untouchables, with Larry and Lindy Raines sharing guitar duties, Rif Rafson on bass, Lewis Boregard on drums, and guest artist Larry Cantil on harmonica. They will be joined by UAF Jazz Band members Etsuko Kimura on keyboard and David Fague on sax. A trombone player also will join the combo.

Admission is $5 for students, $10 for everyone else. Free refreshments. The dance is sponsored by the UAF Good Time Swing Dance Club. Contact fnkmb1@uaf.edu for more information.
