Billboard magazine recently said that the Blind Boys of Alabama’s most recent albums "are two of the most thrillingly soulful albums to come from the gospel, blues, or soul genres in recent years ... Faith, soul, and quality by the truckload."

The Blind Boys of Alabama won a Grammy each of the past two years for those albums -- Spirit of the Century in 2002 and Higher Ground in 2003 -- and those same Blind Boys of Alabama will be performing right here in Fairbanks at the Davis Concert Hall on March 10, 2004!

Tickets will go on sale at the Wood Center front desk and Hoitt’s on January 15. Advance tickets will cost $25/students and $35/adult; tickets at the door will cost $30/students and $40/adult. For more information, please call UAF’s Student Activities Office at 474-6026.

The Blind Boys of Alabama have spread the spirit and energy of pure soul gospel music for over 60 years, ever since the first version of the group formed at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind in 1939. Today, founding members Clarence Fountain, Jimmy Carter and George Scott are on a mission to expand the audience for traditional soul-gospel singing while incorporating contemporary songs and innovative arrangements into their hallowed style.
