The Nanooks, under the guidance of fifth-year coach Guy Gadowsky, finished the season with a 16-19-1 overall record and a 14-13-1 slate in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. UAF earned home ice in the playoffs for the second time in three seasons, hosting Northern Michigan in the first round.

Three players earned postseason recognition for the Nanooks this year. Junior Aaron Voros, who signed a National Hockey League contract with the New Jersey organization, was given the Terry Flanagan Memorial Award. The annual honor is presented to the CCHA player who overcomes the most personal adversity and is active in the local community. Senior Tom Herman was a member of the CCHA All-Academic Team, while fellow senior Preston McKay was honored as the Perani Cup School Champion for UAF.

Cam Keith and Felipe Larranaga signed professional hockey contracts after the 2003-04 season. Keith inked a deal with the Hartford Whalers of the American Hockey League, while Larranaga was tagged to join Fresno Falcons of the ECHL.
