KUAC General Manager & CEO Greg Petrowich issues a challenge to all University of Alaska Fairbanks students, faculty and staff to enter the eighth annual Red Green River Regatta. The regatta is scheduled for Sunday, July 25, 2004. Registration begins at 11 a.m. at the Graehl Park Boat Launch. The entry fee for the regatta is $25 per vessel and the start time is 12 noon. You can register on-site the morning of the event.

Join the flotilla of vessels at the Graehl Park Boat Launch. The winners and special recognition will be announced at the Governor’s Picnic at the Pioneer Park finish line. Criteria include use of the handyman’s secret weapon: DUCT TAPE, imagination and the ability to stay afloat.

"This year we hope to provide a better spectator sport by changing the route to one with more public access to the river," Petrowich said. "Those who wish to do so can watch from any of the bridges, the walkway downtown or one of the many public access areas along the route."

Sponsors of the Red Green River Regatta are OK Lumber/Ace Hardware and Denali State Bank. Additional support for the event is provided by the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce, Compeau’s, Trademark, Heindl’s Car & Truck Sales and Pike’s Landing.
