Tsunami documentary to air on Alaska public television

To help Alaskans better understand the tragedy in Southeast Asia, KUAC-TV 9 and Alaska Public Television will broadcast Ocean Fury: Tsunamis in Alaska on Thursday, Jan. 6 at 7:00 p.m. and again on Friday, Jan. 7, at 10:30 p.m. This program was funded by the Alaska Sea Grant College Program and the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Ocean Fury documents the powerful earthquake and subsequent tsunami that killed more than 100 Alaskans in 1964. This program explains how scientists, local officials and emergency responders are working together to reduce the loss of life and property when tsunamis assault Alaskaäó»s coast again and what you should do to improve your chances of surviving the next tsunami.
