Museum gallery renovations scheduled

With work on the University of Alaska Museum of the North’s new wing nearly complete, contractors with Alaska Mechanical, Inc. are shifting their attention to renovations to the museum’s original building.

To accommodate renovations to the Gallery of Alaska, the museum will be closed to visitors from Monday, February 28 through Thursday, April 28. The museum’s administrative and curatorial offices will remain open throughout this closure. The museum will re-open to visitors on Friday, April 29, with visitors using the new east entrance.

The museum’s winter and spring public programs will continue as scheduled at their off-site locations, including a February 17 lecture on global climate change in UAF’s Geophysical Institute Auditorium and the return of the museum’s popular chocolate bash fund-rasier on April 2 at UAF’s Tanana Valley Campus Center downtown.
