The Museum of the North is now accepting proposals for the 2005 Geist Fund.

The Otto William Geist Fund was established by Otto Geist in 1963 for the explicit purposes of:

-Acquisitions of archeological or paleontological material for the university and for the maintenance of the same.

-Financing in whole or in part expeditions for archeological or paleontological field research.

-Scholarships or fellowship grants for students majoring in archeology or paleontology. Other fields will be considered when strongly tied into paleontological or material culture research.

Proposals are due not later than April 11, 2005. The fund typically awards grants in the range of $1000.

For more information contact Daniel Odess, curator of archeology at the University of Alaska Museum of the North, at (907) 474-6945 or ffdpo@uaf.edu.
