UAF is hosting its second Canada Days celebration with a reception for the Seattle Consulate, a film, a public lecture on the Canadian Constitution and a NAFTA Chapter 11 debate.

The schedule of events is as follows:

Monday, March 7

4:45-6:45 p.m. Gruening 405: Graduate student panel presentation Northern Studies MA students Ross Coen, Susan Larrabee and Natascha Sontag will present their research on Canadian topics.

7:30-8:30 p.m. Gruening 413: Climate on the Edge. This Canadian film directed by Alain Belhumeur presents the climate in global and historical context.

Tuesday, March 8

7:00-8:30 p.m. Schaible Hall: Rights Talk, Pillow Talk and Equality: Same-Sex Marriage and the Canadian Constitution. Public address by Dr. Ian Urquhart, University of Alberta.

Wednesday, March 9

Noon reception at the Brooks gathering room with special guests: Canadian Consul General Jeffrey Parker (Seattle); Political, Economic Relations, and Public Affairs Officer Rudy Brueggemann of the Canadian Consulate in Anchorage; Dean Susan Henrichs, UAF Graduate School; Ann Ringstad, Assoc. Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and Community Engagement; Canadian students at UAF, and UAF administrators, faculty and students. Refreshments will include a variety of hors däó»hoeuvres, cookies and beverages.

3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Wood Center: NAFTA Debate by UAF students. Moderated by Dr. Ian Urquhart, Professor of Political Science, University of Alberta.
