Under recent global warming trends, forest fires in Siberia tend to occur more frequently. The research group at Hokkaido University was established from several departments and institutes to develop a control technology of fire occurrence in Siberia. For better management of the program, research scientists introduced the concept of äóÖField-Informaticsäó» for a more organized research program. The basic concept of Field-Informatics is a way to share and exchange the projects information effectively. The program was in operation from 2000-2004. This is a case study of interdisciplinary research that is related to the global warming issue in Japan.
The seminar presented by visiting professor Masami Fukuda, will take place Aug. 16, from 2:30-4 p.m., in room 401 of the International Arctic Research Center.
