A memorial service for former Gov. Jay Hammond will take place Saturday, Aug. 20 at 2 p.m. in Anchorage in the Atwood Concert Hall located in the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts.

KTUU, the NBC affiliate in Anchorage, will cover the memorial, which will be rebroadcast on UATV (local channel 6 on GCI cable) and carried via the Internet on http://uatv.alaska.edu/

Jay Hammond was a former two-term governor of Alaska who earned a degree in biological sciences from UAF in 1949. He died at his Lake Clark home on Aug. 2. Gov. Hammond was 83 years old.
