FAIRBANKS, Alaska--The University of Alaska Press invites you to a presentation by the first of three candidates for the position of director of the University of Alaska Press. Dermot Cole, Fairbanks Daily News-Miner columnist, will present "The Lives of a Book," Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, from 2 - 3 p.m. in the UAF Wood Center conference room E/F. The presentation is open to the public.

Dates and times for the other candidates will be announced shortly.

The UA Press is a nonprofit organization that publishes and distributes nonfiction works about Alaska, the north Pacific Rim and circumpolar regions. It publishes in an expanding range of subject areas, including politics and history, Native languages and cultures, science and natural history, biography and memoir, and original translations. Readership includes both the scholarly community and the general public. The press is guided by an independent editorial board of scholars and writers with a diverse range of expertise and it is a member of the Association of American University Presses.
