Applications for the 2006 Global Change Student Research Grant Competition are now available at http://www.cgc.uaf.edu or in Room 306 IARC or the Graduate School office on the third floor of Signers’ Hall. The application deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, 2006.

This competition is sponsored by the UAF Center for Global Change, in partnership with the International Arctic Research Center (IARC) and the Cooperative Institute for Arctic Research (CIFAR). It provides support to UAF students for arctic- or subarctic-focused research related to global change. It is designed to give students experience with proposal writing and the peer review system practiced by science funding agencies. Faculty mentors are strongly encouraged to assist by advising and reviewing student proposals prior to submission. Proposals should also explain the research’s relevance to other academic disciplines and endeavors.

The guidelines for this year’s competition have been significantly revised from previous years’. Students and their advisors should read and follow the new guidelines carefully.
