The University of Alaska Fairbanks/University of the Arctic Program Office for International Polar Year Education and Outreach announces recent IPY science opportunities.

The University of Alaska is offering 10 IPY postdoctoral fellowships. The fellowships will begin during the academic year 2006-07, cover a period of three years and include a starting annual salary of $50,000 plus full benefits and a $5,000 travel and research allowance. Research must focus on one of the six IPY themes and the northern high latitudes. Applications are due by April 1. For more information, visit www.alaska.edu/swacad/postdoc/.

The NSF has launched an IPYportal to provide easy access to news releases, classroom resources, listings of museum and gallery exhibits, and catalogs of video and still images and other materials produced or supported by the federal government as part of the U.S. contribution.
