UAF to host National Conference of Neuroscience Research Programs

The UAF Special Neuroscience Research Program will host the Sixth Annual National Conference of Specialized Neuroscience Research Programs June 1-2, 2006 at the Wedgewood Resort. A pre-conference workshop, Arctic Peoples and Beyond: Decreasing Health Disparities through Basic and Clinical Research will take place May 31.

The conference will conclude June 2, 6:30 p.m. at the Wedgewood Resort with a public lecture sponsored by the Alaska Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience and features Fulton Crews, director, Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Crews’ lecture, Neurobiology of Addiction and Recovery, focuses on the latest findings of the effects of binge drinking and neurogenesis in the adult central nervous system.
