Poet and human rights activist Daisy Cubà as will give a lecture and poetry reading Monday, Nov. 13, 2006 at 7 p.m. at Schaible Auditorium at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The event will be held as a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and International Education Week.

Cubà as is the author of poems in several anthologies as well as her own "Chidren of War" collection. Much of her writing relates to her experiences in war-torn El Salvador and the murders of family members by the military in that country.

The event is sponsored by HOLA, Hispanic\Latino Awareness--Club Latino, the UAF Office of Multicultural Affairs & Diversity and Wood Center Student Activities, with funding from UAF chancellor’s office.
