UAF Chancellor Steve Jones and Judy Jones invite UAF faculty, staff and students to join them in National Wear Red Day, Friday, Feb. 2, 2007. The event, part of an American Heart Association initiative, is designed to raise awareness of heart disease and stroke. The Jones’ are chairing this year’s American Heart Association Heart Walk.

Participating in the event is simple: Wear red on Friday, Feb. 2. Ice sculptures throughout the campus will also be lit in red in recognition of this nationwide event. In addition, Dr. John Fellerath and the staff of the UAF Health and Counseling Center will be in the Wood Center lobby from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. to provide free blood pressure checks and body fat assessments. Representatives of the American Heart Association will also be on hand with information about heart disease and to take donations, which help advance research and educational efforts.

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women and men in the United States. National Wear Red Day is an opportunity for all members of the campus community to arm themselves with knowledge about this devastating disease and to remember loved ones who have suffered its effects.

Thank you in advance for supporting this lifesaving program.
