More than a dozen Fairbanks museums will be open free to the public Saturday, May 26 from 11 a.m-4 p.m. as part of the ninth annual International Museum Day. This event is sponsored by the Tanana Yukon Historical Society and features family activities including a quiz with prizes and refreshments at select museums. The University of Alaska Fairbanks Georgeson Botanical Garden and the UA Museum of the North are participating.

Museum maps are available at any museum downtown, at Pioneer Park, UAF or Creamers Field on College Road.

The "Great Stampede" at the Pioneer Museum at Pioneer Park will be featured. The exhibit tells the story of Alaska gold and the founding of Fairbanks through narrative by Reuben Gaines and paintings by Rusty Hurlein.
