The Vision Task Force 2017, a group of opinion leaders from around the state, has forwarded its recommendations on the strategic direction for the University of Alaska Fairbanks and is seeking public feedback on the document.
UAF Chancellor Steve Jones convened the group of 55 last March, giving a nod to the 55 delegates to the Alaska Constitutional Convention, which took place on the Fairbanks campus in 1955.
Jo Heckman, president and CEO of Denali State Bank, and Kevin Hostler, president and CEO of Alyeska Pipeline Service Co., are leading the task force in its efforts to identify the resources needed to advance the university. Task force members met for two days in early March and discussed student success, enrollment and retention, research, outreach and community engagement, staff and faculty development, and philanthropic efforts. Those meetings resulted in the recommendations, which are posted online at www.uaf.edu/vision2017 for public review and comment. The deadline to submit comments is Oct. 8, 2007.
The task force is slated to meet again in November to review public comments and produce a final report.
