The UAF FAculty Senate is soliciting nominations for three opening seats on the Committee. Members of the CSW are elected at large from among UAF faculty. If you or someone you know is interested in serving on this committee, please submit a nomination by Feb. 29, 2008 to fysenat@uaf.edu.
The purpose of the Committee is to monitor the status of women
faculty at UAF and to work proactively for gender equity. Efforts will include (but
are not limited to) the following:
äó¢ maintaining lists of women faculty with hire, tenure and promotion dates;
äó¢ organizing and supervising surveys on the status of women and assessing the cultural
climate of the university as it pertains to women;
äó¢ recommending policy to address the needs of women faculty;
äó¢ supporting mentoring of women, both new and mid-career faculty, to include running
workshops on mentoring, promotion and tenure, negotiating techniques and other forms
of faculty development;
äó¢ addressing family/work issues such as child care, parental leave, and spousal/partner
hire;
äó¢ coordinating with other campus and university groups which deal with women’s and
gender issues; and
äó¢ any other issues which help women faculty achieve equity at UAF.

Cindy Hardy, Associate Professor (CRCD, Developmental Studies);
Renate Wackerbauer, Assistant Professor (CNSM, Physics);
Diane Wagner, Associate Professor (IAB, Arctic Biology).
