Jenifer Huang McBeath, professor of plant pathology and biotechnology, in UAF’s School of Agriculture and Land Resources Management, has been appointed by Secretary Ann Veneman of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, to the Advisory Committee on Emerging Markets.
The role of the committee is to provide the secretary with information and advice useful to implementing the Emerging Markets Program. The committee also advises the USDA on ways to increase the involvement of the private sector in cooperative work with emerging markets in food and rural business systems and reviews proposals submitted to the program for funding technical assistance activities. This appointment will be for two years.
