UAF to Host Rural Energy Conference

The Alaska Energy Authority and the University of Alaska Fairbanks’ new Arctic Energy Technology Development Laboratory have joined forces to organize and sponsor the Reliable and Affordable Energy for Rural Alaska Conference in Fairbanks on September 17 - 19 at the River’s Edge Resort.

The conference is designed for rural energy managers, energy service and equipment providers, government agencies, national laboratories, technology developers, housing authorities, university researchers, students and the public.

Mark Hamilton, UA President and Lt. Governor Fran Ulmer are scheduled keynote speakers.

Topics will include conventional diesel generation, wind, small-scale hydroelectric facilities, fuel cells, distributed generation, energy storage and the economics of doing business in rural Alaska.

The conference is sponsored by the Alaska Industrial Development & Export Authority/Alaska Energy Authority, UAF, the Arctic Energy Technology Development Laboratory and the Department of Energy.
