Bugs, bats, birds, bears and other beasts will emerge from the University of Alaska Museum’s collections on Halloween to delight costumed trick-or-treaters ages 12 and under.
In addition to showcasing creatures from the collections, kids will be able to go trick-or-treating through several of the museums research labs. Storytelling and making origami cranes will entertain kids upstairs in the galleries while they await their turn to venture down into the collections labs.
"We have great things in our collections for kids, and Halloween is a fun way to share them with the community," says UA Museum Director Aldona Jonaitis.
This is the first year the museum has held a Halloween event for kids. Admission is free and the event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening. All trick-or-treaters must be accompanied by an adult.
