The Rural Alaska Honors Institute (RAHI), the University of Alaska Fairbanks summer college preparatory program, has extended its deadline for student applications to the summer 2003 program to March 31, 2003.

Interested students need at least a 3.0 grade point average and may meet with a school counselor, visit the RAHI website at www.uaf.edu/rahi/, or call (800) 478-6886 for an application or more information. Applications should be faxed as early as possible to (907) 474-5624.

The Rural Alaska Honors Institute is a bridging program designed to help Alaska Native students succeed in college. The six-week summer residency is a UAF College of Rural Alaska program that prepares students for the many challenges of college life by sharpening academic and coping skills. Students live in a UAF campus residence hall staffed by full-time tutor counselors and register for eight to 10 credits of university courses. RAHI was founded in 1983 at the request of the Alaska Federation of Natives.
