Local UAF Shooter Qualifies for National Development Team

Matt Wallace, a member of the 2002-03 UAF Nanook National Championship Rifle team has qualified for the USA Shooting National Development team. Wallace finished in second place at the Junior Olympic Rifle Championships at the U.S. Training Center in Colorado Springs Colo. earlier this week.

As a result of his second place finish, Matt will attend the Pan American Team Selection Match in Fort Benning, Ga. May 17- 25. Matt will travel with the National Development Team to Suhl, Germany, to represent the U.S. in the International Juniors competition.

Wallace, a sophomore from Fairbanks, qualified as a first alternate to this year’s NCAA National Championships and participated at the national competititon as an assistant coach to Glenn Dubis. Matt earned First Team All-American honors in both air rifle and smallbore events during the regular season.
