UAF Students Uncover Clues to Alaska’s Past

UAF anthropology graduate student Luke Schulze makes notes in his field journal during excavation at a site near the Gerstle River in Interior Alaska in June 2003. Schulze and other students attended a two-week field camp at the site which was sponsored by Northern Land Use Research, Inc. and the UAF anthropology department. The group uncovered several mammal bones and human artifacts dating between 6,000 and 12,000 years old.
