Sparrow Appointed Associate Dean

Professor Stephen Sparrow has been appointed associate dean of the School of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. His appointment to the new position was announced by Carol E. Lewis, dean of the school and director of the Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station. Sparrow will continue teaching and research as professor of agronomy on a half-time basis. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota and has been a member of the UAF faculty since 1981.

As the associate dean, Sparrow will work on academic program reviews, the school’s strategic plan, recruitment and marketing, and expansion of the school’s degree program in southcentral Alaska. He also will act on behalf of Dean Lewis at national and international meetings and state and university functions as needed.
